Telecalling Software in India: What Each Type Actually Does

“Telecalling software” covers four quite different things in the Indian market, and the buying mistake is picking from the wrong category. Here is what separates a telecalling CRM from an auto dialer from a cloud telephony suite from an AI calling agent — and which one fits which problem.

Definition

Telecalling software is a tool that manages outbound calling by a team of human telecallers — a dialer, a lead list, call dispositions, follow-up reminders and a manager view of who called whom.

It organises the people making calls. It does not make the calls. That distinction is the whole reason the AI calling agent category exists as something separate.

The four categories

These get used interchangeably in sales conversations and they should not be. They solve different problems and they are priced on different units.

Telecalling CRM

Lead list, call dispositions, follow-up reminders, manager reports. Built around a human telecaller working through a queue on a phone or desktop.

TeleCRM, NeoDove, Callyzer, Runo, GoDial

Auto dialer / predictive dialer

Dials the next number automatically so the agent is not waiting between calls. Raises dials-per-hour; does not change what happens once someone picks up. AI agent vs predictive dialer.

Cloud dialers, on-prem dialer appliances

Cloud telephony / call centre suite

Numbers, IVR, routing, recording and analytics for a contact centre. Heavier to set up, priced for teams, and usually sold with a minimum seat count. MyOperator alternatives.

Exotel, Ozonetel, MyOperator, Knowlarity

AI calling agent

The agent places the call and holds the conversation itself. No seat, no shift, no dialling. Calls run in parallel rather than sequentially. What is an AI calling agent.

The last two rows matter more than the first six. An AI agent that tries to hold a negotiation or absorb an angry customer produces a worse outcome than a person would, and the right design routes those calls to a human rather than pretending otherwise. Which one fits your problem

Choose telecalling software if

·You already have a telecalling team and the problem is coordination, not capacity
·Your calls involve negotiation, objection handling or a long consultative pitch
·You need call outcomes tied into an existing sales CRM your team lives in
·Deal values are high enough that a human on every call pays for itself

Choose an AI calling agent if

·The same short call repeats hundreds of times — confirmations, reminders, first-touch qualification
·You need multiple Indian languages without hiring for each one
·Volume is spiky and hiring for the peak does not make sense
·Nobody is making the calls today because the manual cost exceeds the value

These are not mutually exclusive, and the common pattern in India is both — an AI agent handling the repeated first-touch call, a human team taking the ones it flags as worth a conversation.

What each one costs

Telecalling CRMs in India are priced per user per month, typically ₹500–₹1,500 a seat, on top of the telecaller’s salary. Cloud telephony suites add per-minute telephony and usually a minimum commitment.

An AI calling agent is priced on call time rather than seats. Vyora’s Builder plan is ₹799/month and covers roughly 113 minutes of calling — about 37 three-minute calls. Business is ₹3,449/month for roughly 533 minutes, about 178 calls. Credits do not expire, and there is a free tier of 50 credits for testing.

Those are real numbers, not unlimited plans — an AI agent is cheaper per call than a telecaller for repetitive work, and it is not free. Compare against seat pricing on the pricing page, and against per-minute platforms in per-minute vs monthly pricing.

DLT and TRAI rules apply either way

This catches people who assume compliance is a platform problem. Under TRAI’s TCCCPR 2018 regulations, amended February 2025, commercial calling in India requires DLT registration, and calls must originate from the correct series — 140 for promotional, 160 for transactional and service. Contact lists must be DND-scrubbed before dialling.

None of that changes based on whether a human or an AI places the call. Walkthrough in what is DLT registration in India, and the number-series detail in AI calling with an Indian number.

Frequently asked questions

What is telecalling software?

Telecalling software is a tool that manages outbound calling by a team of human telecallers. It typically bundles a dialer, a lead list, call dispositions, follow-up reminders and a manager dashboard. The software does not make the calls — it organises the people who do, and records what happened on each one.

What is the difference between telecalling software and an AI calling agent?

Telecalling software makes a human telecaller faster. An AI calling agent replaces the dialling and the first conversation entirely. With telecalling software, your throughput is bounded by headcount and shift hours. With an AI agent, throughput is bounded by your plan and the calls run in parallel. Most Indian teams end up using both — AI for the repetitive first-touch calls, humans for the ones that need judgment.

Is there free telecalling software in India?

Several Indian tools offer a free tier limited by user count or call volume, and most mobile-first telecalling CRMs have a free plan for one or two users. Free tiers are usually enough to test a workflow and rarely enough to run a team. Vyora has a free tier of 50 credits which is intended for testing an agent end to end, not for production volume.

Does telecalling software need DLT registration in India?

If you are dialling from a business identity at scale, yes. Under TRAI TCCCPR 2018 as amended in February 2025, commercial calling requires DLT registration and calls must originate from the correct number series — 140 for promotional, 160 for transactional and service. This applies whether a human or an AI places the call.

Can telecalling software handle Hindi and regional languages?

Human telecallers handle whatever languages they speak, which is the real constraint — hiring a Tamil-speaking telecaller in Lucknow is hard. An AI agent handles the language it is configured with, so the same setup can run English, Hindi, Tamil, Telugu, Kannada, Marathi, Bengali and Gujarati without changing who is on shift.

How many calls can a telecaller make in a day?

A realistic figure for an Indian outbound telecaller is 80 to 150 dials a day, of which a much smaller number connect and a smaller number still hold a real conversation. That number is stable across tools — better software reduces idle time between dials, but it cannot change how long a conversation takes.
