What is Code-switching?

Code-switching is when a speaker moves between two or more languages during a conversation, common across India.

A lead may start in Hindi and move to Tamil, or mix English terms into a regional language. For speech recognition, that is much harder than recognising one language at a time.

Platforms handle it by supporting extra languages the caller might switch to, so the agent follows rather than insisting on one language.

At Vyora: Vyora lets you add extra languages an agent can switch into mid-call on its Business plan.

Common questions

Can an AI agent follow a caller who changes language mid-call?
Some can, if extra languages are enabled for the agent. It is worth testing in your actual language mix.
