What is AI voice agent?

An AI voice agent is software that holds a spoken phone conversation to complete a task, such as qualifying a lead, confirming an order or booking an appointment, without a human on the line.

Unlike a menu-driven IVR, an AI voice agent understands free-form speech, decides what to say next and can act during the call, for example by checking a calendar or sending a WhatsApp message. It combines speech-to-text, a language model that follows your script and rules, and text-to-speech to talk back.

In India the useful ones handle Hindi, regional languages and Hinglish, and stay within TRAI's calling rules. Typical jobs are lead follow-up, appointment and EMI reminders, cash-on-delivery confirmation and feedback calls.

At Vyora: Vyora lets you describe an agent in plain words, pick a voice in one of 11 languages and start calling without writing code.

Common questions

How is an AI voice agent different from a chatbot?
A chatbot types; a voice agent listens and speaks in real time, so it also has to handle accents, interruptions, background noise and short gaps between turns.
Can an AI voice agent replace a human telecaller?
For repetitive first-touch calls, yes. For complex negotiations or sensitive cases, the better design hands the call to a person.
