What is DLT registration?

DLT registration is the mandatory enrolment of a business, its sender headers and its message templates on a TRAI-approved distributed ledger platform before sending commercial calls or SMS in India.

A business registers once as an entity, gets an Entity ID, registers headers and templates, and links them to a telecom provider. The process usually takes days rather than hours.

When you call through a platform that already operates on registered numbers, much of this is handled for you, but you stay responsible for what you say and for consent.

Common questions

Do I need DLT registration to use an AI calling platform?
It depends on the platform. Some work on pre-registered numbers for standard calls; custom headers or your own numbers usually need your own registration.
