What is Call recording consent?
Call recording consent is the caller's agreement to have a call recorded, usually obtained by telling them at the start of the call.
A short line such as "this call may be recorded for quality and training" at the start is the common practice. Recordings contain personal data, so storage, access and retention need controls.
This is not legal advice: requirements can vary by sector, so confirm with your own counsel for regulated industries such as lending and insurance.
Common questions
- How long should I keep call recordings?
- Only as long as you need them for the stated purpose or a legal requirement, then delete them.
