What is DND (Do Not Disturb) registry?
The DND registry is India's national list of customers who have chosen not to receive promotional calls and messages.
Before making promotional calls, telemarketers are expected to check numbers against the register and respect customers' preferences, which can block all promotional communication or only certain categories.
Service and transactional calls to existing customers are treated differently from promotional calls, which is one reason the distinction between them matters.
Common questions
- Can I call a number on the DND list?
- Not with promotional calls. Service calls to existing customers follow different rules. If unsure, treat the number as do-not-call.
