What is Voice cloning?
Voice cloning creates a synthetic voice that sounds like a specific real person, built from recordings of their speech.
Businesses sometimes want a branded voice or a founder's voice on calls. The risks are consent and impersonation: you should only clone a voice with the speaker's clear permission, and callers should still be told they are speaking with an automated system.
In India, misuse of a person's voice can raise privacy and personality-rights issues, so a written consent record is the safe baseline.
Common questions
- Is it legal to clone someone's voice for business calls?
- Only with their permission, and it does not remove your duty to be transparent that the call is automated. Ask a lawyer about your specific case.
