Receive incoming calls with an AI receptionist
Updated
Quick answer
To have an agent answer incoming calls you need your own dedicated number, an agent whose type is Inbound or Both, and that agent picked under Incoming calls go to on the Numbers page. It works on any plan that has a number. Incoming calls are charged like other calls and pause when your credits reach 0.
What you need
- Your own number. The shared number cannot receive calls. A number is an add-on on Free and Builder (₹749 a month or ₹1,799 every 3 months, plus GST) and one is included on Business. See Get your own number.
- An agent that can take calls, with Agent Type set to Inbound or Both.
- Credits. Incoming calls use credits like any other call.
Inbound is not tied to a plan. Any workspace with its own number can receive calls, including Builder.
Step 1: Set the agent type
When you create an agent, pick Inbound (answers calls only) or Both (makes and answers calls) under Agent Type.
For an existing agent:
- Open Agents and open the agent.
- On the Setup tab, under Agent Type, pick Inbound or Both.
- Click Save Changes.
If Inbound and Both are greyed out with the note "Needs a dedicated number to receive calls", your workspace does not have its own number yet. Get one first.
Step 2: Choose which agent answers
- Open Numbers in the sidebar.
- Under your number, open Incoming calls go to.
- Pick the agent.
The line under the menu confirms which agent answers calls to this number. In the agent editor, the agent then shows "Answering calls to" followed by your number.
To stop answering, pick the Nobody option. Vyora asks you to confirm, because anyone who calls will not get an answer until you pick an agent again.
Only Admins and Owners can change which agent answers.

Write the script for callers
An inbound agent talks to people who called you, so its script should greet the caller, ask how it can help, and answer from what it knows. A knowledge base with your prices, timings and FAQs helps the agent answer correctly. See Write a good agent script and Knowledge base.
To hand callers to a person when they ask for one, set up call transfer (Business plan).
What incoming calls cost
Incoming calls are charged at the same rate as outgoing calls: 15 credits per connected minute, rounded up to the next full minute. See How credits are charged.
Incoming calls stopped when credits ran out
When your balance reaches 0, Vyora pauses incoming calls on your number so you do not go into a large negative balance. The number stays yours. You get an email and a WhatsApp alert at 20 credits and again at 0.
As soon as you top up, incoming calls are switched back on automatically, to the same agent. You do not need to set anything up again.
Find incoming calls
Incoming calls are listed on the Calls page with outgoing ones, with the recording, transcript and summary. See Find recordings and transcripts.
